We will find a way to make the skate park happen
I was an early supporter of the Blake Doyle Community Park — the skate park planned for beneath the Interstate 110 overpass — and I remain so today. This skate park will provide a fun, healthy and safe environment for skateboarding. And it will do so in an underutilized area of Pensacola and attract youth from throughout our area.
On Wednesday night I and two of my fellow Pensacola City Council members voted to approve full and final funding for the park. We believed there was a creative and responsible way to bridge the gap between the money raised by Upward Intuition, and what the City had already promised. Unfortunately, the three votes were not enough.
I believe we can still make the skate park a reality. And I believe we can do it sooner rather than later.
We must continue to Build Pensacola. And the Blake Doyle Community Park is a great start.
